Introducing... Home-Start Manchester!

Manchester is one of the only areas in the country served by 1 local authority but with 2 separate Home-Start schemes. Both schemes' Trustees and Scheme Managers have been meeting for some time to evaluate the pros and cons of becoming 1 Manchester organisation. They have concluded that a merger of both schemes will create a stronger, more efficient and effective service for families and for you, our valued volunteers.

Volunteers are the backbone of Home-Start and we very much value you as part of the team. We have therefore taken into careful consideration how the merger may affect you. With this in mind we are committed to maintaining a local presence and making the service accessible for you.  We will continue to operate from our 2 current office spaces in Wythenshawe and Cheetham for the foreseeable future and we will update you if this changes.

We are committed to ensuring continuity of support for volunteers and families and so no changes are being made to staffing as a result of the merger and your Coordinator will not change.  You will also continue to support families in your chosen area of the City.

We already have some of the processes in place and will be developing them further ahead of a formal merger date of 2nd January 2018, these include:

•changes to our email addresses:  general enquiries can be sent to  and staff e-mail addresses have changed to the following format your Coordinator will inform you directly of their new e-mail address. We have also ensured that e-mails sent to our old addresses will still reach us during the transition.

•Citywide coordinated volunteer training and support

•One website at

You will get a chance to meet staff from either scheme as we start to co-deliver training or attend events and there will be a change to management as we create one team across the City.

We are hoping that you won’t notice any disruption to service during this time but if you do have any questions or comments then please speak to your Coordinator, contact the office on 0161 945 6832 or e-mail

Thank you for your continued support.
